Exciting changes at The Arc of Larimer County

Greetings;

As you may know, there have been some exciting changes here at The Arc of Larimer County.  With these changes, we have had a great opportunity to hire two new experienced Advocates to our team! Please welcome Matt Cloven and Dawn Sakes.

Dawn Sakes joined us in April as our Advocacy Specialist who will focus primarily on adult advocacy, legislative issues, and serves as our advisor to People First.  She comes with over 12 years of experience working in many different systems in the field.  Dawn began her career in this field as a direct care provider. She has subsequently worked on systems advocacy and as a Program Manager for one of our local Program Approved Service Agencies (PASA).  Her knowledge of systems advocacy and the Colorado Long Term Services and Supports system brings a unique perspective to The Arc of Larimer County.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas in Arlington and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Houston.

Matt Cloven is our most recent addition to the advocacy team, he will be primarily focusing on advocacy for children birth through 18 and community outreach for the Arc. Matt has 11 years cumulative experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He began with working direct care in residential settings and acting as House Manager for multiple group homes for adults in Oregon. Upon returning to Colorado he spent time working day program direct care, as well as a Supported Living Consultant for adults, before turning his time and attention to Case Management for children. His knowledge of systems advocacy, IDEA, community supports, and intra-agency collaboration will be an asset to the Arc of Larimer County. Matt holds a bachelor’s in Philosophy from Colorado State University, and a Master’s of Art in Cultural History and Philosophy from Regis University.

Moving forward, one of our new Advocacy Specialists is ready to work with you and/or your family.  They both join our team with a great deal of knowledge and experience in the intellectual and developmental disability system.

Please feel free to contact our advocacy team. For adult advocacy please contact Dawn Sakes at dsakes@arclc.org or 970-204-6991 ext. 3.  For children’s advocacy, please contact Matt Cloven at mcloven@arclc.org or 970-204-6991 ext. 21.

Thank you,

Marilee Boylan
