Chrissy Hammel-Peterson

Youth & Adult Advocate

Chrissy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Special Education with Generalist and Specialist Licensure from the University of Northern Colorado.

She has served as a case manager and special education teacher over the last twenty-three years. She has worked with students ages five to twenty in both charter and public schools in Weld and Larimer County. While she absolutely loves teaching, she is a social worker and advocate at heart. Her passion for supporting youth and families on their personal journeys has brought her to join in the work and mission of The Arc of Larimer County.

Outside of working with The Arc, Chrissy enjoys gardening and preserving all of the wonderful plants and vegetables grown on their property. She also loves spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Reading, journaling, and spending time in nature strengthen and refresh her ability to support others and thrive in all areas of her life!
