Micaela Herman
Youth & Adult Advocate
Since studying Human Sciences in her home country of Italy, Micaela discovered a true passion for diverse cultures and human rights. Later in life, she became an activist for minorities and those populations she felt did not have a voice. She also spent many years advocating for animal rights and volunteered with different organizations that were rescuing and rehabilitating abused and neglected animals of varied species. Both were incredible journeys that changed and enriched her life. When she then became a mom of a child with a disability, she acquired the knowledge and learned the power of “self-advocacy” and became her son’s voice. Their life and her innate desire to help others inspired her to become an advocate to support and empower those who feel unheard and unseen. Before joining The Arc of Larimer County team, she worked as a Family Support and Parent to Parent Coordinator for The Arc of Spokane in Washington State.
In her free time, Micaela still enjoys volunteering for animal rescues, practicing yoga, hiking, and traveling to the ocean with her son and their dogs.
